Kicking Off the 2023 Growing Season

I stepped back over the past few weeks just to let everything settle in and to rest for a minute.  We had our best year to date, and I am proud to say that as we enter our 6th growing season, I continue to absolutely love this journey.

Reflecting on the past year, we reached several milestones.  We embraced a low-till philosophy of growing, which will improve our soil and subsequently, the health of the flowers.  Green pathways between the rows brought a lightness and vibrancy to the farm, and I just loved walking between the rows and seeing all of the life.  Our bouquets and arrangements were better than ever as we included new varieties and had an eye to certain color combinations.  We added a new field by the barn for growing and for customers coming to the farm to get a peek into what we are doing here.

We stretched our wings and worked with several couples to provide their wedding flowers, which was just so special.  We also arranged florals for several large fundraisers and had a blast getting creative.  It’s been exciting to see our customer base expand, and I am sincerely touched when a new customer approaches me with a request and trusts us to execute his or her vision!  Finally, we joined with Local Provisions, a local market/ restaurant, to provide florals for sale.  I delivered weekly fresh dahlia bunches this fall, and we tried many fun ideas including decorated gourds and wreaths for the holiday season.  As my season gets rolling again, I plan to have fresh bunches available for customers to pick up and enjoy while they shop.

Looking ahead, 2023 will be another year of growth.  Topics to stay tuned for- pulse watering, companion planting, Mindfulness and Floral Arranging, and a very exciting transformation to the front of the farm.  Stay tuned!

In the meantime- our annual Floral CSA opens on Wednesday, February 1st at 9 am EST!  I am offering tulip bunches and seasonal bouquets all season long.  What is so special about these bouquets?  They are substantial and packed with healthy, unique, vibrant stems.  We are designing our color combinations now, and I expect them to really be spectacular this season.  I always include a special element, too, like an herb or a piece of foraged material- something to expand your imagination.  Moreover, customers who purchase our CSAs are getting their bouquets at a discount!

So, be sure to sign onto the website and order your CSA on Wednesday.  And no worries if you miss out- we will have flowers all summer long!
